Adventures at Baker Lake
So today was an awesome day but now I am very tired and very sun burnt. I got up at 8am, which is really early for me, and went hiking/rafting/swimming all day at Baker Lake with Tommy and Pettis. It was great. We hiked for a while around the lake and stopped to eat lunch at a dock. We then decided that we didn't feel like walking anymore, so of course the logical thing to do would be to build a raft to get back to our starting point. Yeah...not such a good plan. The raft ended up working...kinda...and we did make it a little ways. Ok, so it would have been way easier and way faster to just walk back, but who wants to do that when they can work ten times as hard to achieve the same thing? We didn't get very far before we decided to just head to shore and find the trail. So it took us over half an hour just to get to shore and then getting on shore was even tougher because there was a steep bank and a bunch of floating logs and tree roots in the way. After Tommy fell through some unstable ground we eventually made it safely ashore. Then the challenge was to find the trail. In the process I got a few cuts and was bleeding inside my shoes. (Oh, by the way, my shoes had no shoes laces in them cause we had taken them out to tie the raft together.) So that was fun. :) The forecast today said it was supposed to rain...it never did. There was definitly some sun cause I feel like burning!!!! I was wiped out by the end of the hike and ended up sleeping in the car most of the way home.
I also had small group tonight and we watched a documentary on Dietrich Bonhoeffer. It was pretty interesting but also kind of depressing. I guess anything that talks about WWII would be. So now I am off to bed before I fall asleep at my computer.
