The First Gleam of Dawn

Proverbs 4:18

I made it!

So I am here in Dakar, Senegal. It was a long trip. I left Tuesday afernoon (West Coast time) and arrived in Dakar at 5am on Thursday (Senegal time). I haven't gotten a full nights sleep since Monday night. I haven't showered since Tuesday and I am wearing the same clothes that I had on when I left. Good times. It is really hot and humid here. Luckily, the computer lab I am in has a tiny bit of air conditioning.

This first week is just orientation. Lots of meetings and stuff. Then next week we go to our host familys. I am nervous about that.

It is going to take me a while to get used to things here. Right now I am really tired and hot. Not a good combo. Hopefully things get a little better.

Anyways, I gotta run to learn some Wolof.

Jamie!!!! I miss you so much already! Yesterday I was driving home from Seattle and I just about dialed your number and - then - alas.... I realized that you were not here... sad. But HAPPY for YOU! Because you are in Senegal and I am so excited for you! I love it! I will definitely be praying for you that you adjust to the climate issues! :) I am reading a little devotion type book right now that makes me think about you and I want to tell you about it and ARGH I just want to talk to you, I am going through Jamie-withdrawals... maybe I will make copies of some of the pages and send them to you. Okay, I am going to go and get ready to go to the allergy doctor - fun times. I LOVE YOU!

PS: "S" talked to the "other" docteur... and I think I may go...

Host family? Just try to steal anybody's boyfriend and I'm sure it will be fine! Glad your trip was safe!
