Maangi dekk chi Senegal....waaw waaw.

I can't think of anything exciting that has happened lately. Just me living in Senegal. It's funny how life here seems so normal to me now. I tried to make a list of things that seemed crazy or just really different to me when I first got here, and I had to think really hard. Things that were weird aren't weird anymore.

I come home in less than a month! That is so crazy. But I am really excited. My mom says she has to get up and scrape ice off the car before she goes to work. I can't imagine it being so cold. There were times here when I thought I had forgoten what it felt like to be cold.

I am too tired to write anything cool right now. I couldn't get to sleep last night till 2:30 then for some reason I woke up at 4:30. I had scary and weird dreams. I also got attacked by a mosquito. 9 bites just on one shoulder. No fun. I don't understand how the mosquito got into our apartment since there are screens on all the windows. Such a mystery. So then I sat on my bed for a while and looked at the glowing glow in the dark stars that I put around my room. They're so fun. I finally fell asleep but then had to wake up at 8 to meet my teacher at school.

I am organizing a Thanksgiving dinner for our group of students. Hope it comes out OK. We are lacking some ingredients that would be helpful to make things, but we can be creative!

Thanksgiving in Dakar! Can you find a nice big turkey or do you have to settle for a large chicken with stuffing? Of course you will throw everything into one big bowl along with a pumpkin pie to eat Senegal style with your hand?

We are still expecting you to come home with a couple wedding rings on from all of your fiance's from Dakar.

Is there any kind of American refugee party at the Embassy or Atlantic Club where you can watch some football bowl game? You know, sort of to ease you back into our USA culture, such as it is. I think we can arrange a sheep in your room upstairs if you like!

Have a great Thanksgiving and enjoy the nice weather. It is cold and wet here, but refreshingly damp.

Daddyo
