Soccer on the Beach

My last evening in Senegal was awesome. I finished my paper in time to go to the beach and spent an hour swimming in the WARM Atlantic Ocean. The waves were really rough but it felt so good to be in water. Senegal... so hot right now. Senegal. After swimming 3 other students and I ended up joining some Senegalese guys who were passing a soccer ball around on the wet sand. Passing turned into shooting on goal, and that turned into a 5v5 match. I miss playing soccer! Girls in Senegal don't play soccer, so to see a couple of us playing was quite amusing to them. I even took one of them out. Go me. It hurts to land in wet sand though. After soccer we went back to our air conditioned hotel, took showers, and had birthday cake because it was Alex's 21st birthday. It was a good day.

Gotta run, the guy at the internet cafe is kicking me out!

Last evening in Senegal??? Are you escaping or was that just a reference to the Saint Louis Senegal with the AC hotel and warm beaches?

Good job on the beach soccer. Janelle's team took out Horizon middle school 10-1 in Whatcom MS Action yesterday. I don't think she took down any large players, she was taking it easy on them Ferndalites.

You know, starting a Saint Louis beach soccer league for girls would be a fun project. 6 weeks of team practice, games, tournements, etc.

Have fun back with your friendly sheep and keep Amy away from dull knives and 40 onions. 39 is OK.

Hiya,

I finally logged on to your Blog, it is good to hear of all your adventures in Senegal.

Fall is coming rapidly to the Sierras, we had snow already and then it melted but is supposed to be 13 (F not C)tonight so I am thinking of getting the skis ready. I guess that is hard to picture from your location.

Hope your are enjoying, keep up the posts.

Uncle Matt

Yeah...didn't mean to type last evening in Senegal. It was my last one in Saint Louis. I was in a hurry.

Hi Uncle Matt! I am jealous that you get to start skiing. I still need to come visit you with Lindsey.
