Tutti Rekk
Not much time to write anything. Gotta get back to class! I have to go play...I mean I get to go play the Jembe again. The learning pace is a little slow for me. Doing one beat for an hour gets old real fast. Everything is going well here. I am loving my family here more and more everyday. They take so much time to help me with everything! Last night I had a homework assignment and about 5 of them all helped translate a news article for me. Also, I found out there are 20 people living with me, not 15. But it's great. Although I am glad I have my own room. I need my alone time. My family is also determined to teach me Wolof. It is hard, but really cool at the same tme. The rest of the week we are doing Batik. Bonus points to anyone who can say what that is. Later!

Bonus points for me!!! :) Well, I think! If it is the same... when I was in Thailand with the Donahues we did Batik painting and it is where you stretch out cloth and you paint designs on it and then they wash it somehow and then you have these really pretty bright colorful cloth paintings! :) (I did mind of PINK flowers!) Kind of a bad description, but you get the idea....
Hi Jamie, You're settling in...good for you..we're proud! Batik...a dye/wax process...wax keeps dye off where you don't want it! Do I get a prize? Love you, Ridgely
Jamie! I did Batik in art class in high school..no cool stories about how I learned it in Thailand, or anything. Just good old puyallup. yay.
Batik- A method of dyeing a fabric by which the parts of the fabric not intended to be dyed are covered with removable wax. Am I too late? I say BONUS bonus points for being a guy who knows nothing about art or clothes. Miss you Jamie!
